I have my pay stubs as proof that they withheld 50 percent of my total income in my W2. Should I report them to the Department of Labor?

Please help!

I would go and talk to my employer and see if they made a mistake.
if this don't work talk to your tax people and see what they can do.

I'm a little confused about what it is that doesn't match. Is it that your total income doesn't match the pay stubs, or the taxes withheld? Are you looking at just the amount on the pay stubs that says withheld for federal income tax to match box 2 on your W-2? Since the top bracket is 35% it's not logical that they withheld 50% for federal income taxes - even including state taxes and social security and medicare, sounds awfully high. Does the amount withheld include pretax items like health insurance and 401K contributions?

Something just isn't adding up, and I don't just mean your paystubs.

Something sounds fishy to me. They didn't report all your income so they wouldn't have to pay their portion. If you think it was a true mistake ( and who knows) maybe you should ask the payroll person. Don't tell them you have your check stubs. Just say you thought that there may be a mistake because you thought you made more money then that..would they please check it for you...be nice. If they act funny about it and don't get you an answer pretty quick, you are getting ready to file your taxes. then I would turn their A*% in...it is Illegal...Good Luck..
If you work as a contractor and furnish your own tools,That may be a different story..

I use the turbo tax program and there is a question on there that asks if your W2 is not correct, I have never had to answer this quesiton, so I don't know where the program would take you from there. You should really look this up on irs.gov.

Yep
when you file your taxes attach a COPY of the w2 when you file and I would put a note on it and explain what is going on to the irs...let them figure it out

You need to go back to him and tell hom by law he has to.
Also go to socail security and make sure he has paid in. They will have a record, if not, get a reading from them and bring it to your employer. It will effect your future payments if you should get disabled

Hope this has been of some help
