Using a Canon k2 rebel, what would be the best lens to use to get the best pictures of the action? please help...

Go to this page and read and see what suits you. I can't really say, as it depends on whether you are track-side or way up in the stands.

I think I'd suggest the 100-400 mm lens shown at http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-100-400mm-f-4.5-5.6-L-IS-USM-Lens-Review.aspx The "relatively small maximum aperture" would not be so much of a problem for NASCAR, as you would be shooting outside on sunny days. The image stabilization would be a real help if you are near other fans in the stands. The push-pull zoom is kind of an old design, but I used to have a lens like this and, once you get used to it, it makes perfect sense for action photography.

Okay, the lens costs TEN TIMES as much as your camera, but I think it's the best.

If you want that same range for less money, consider the Sigma 135-400 ($589).

You might also look into a monopod for your purposes.
