There are many free things that will detect things but not remove them. AVG is legitimate, but some are not. I know of 2, one being spyware quake, or somethig. I have XoftSpy (not SE), and I found a serial number to unlock it. It detects many things, and it is completely updatable, and removes the files. I usually use serials.ws to find codes: but there is content on that and other such sites.

AVG is no more free as of 18th of Feb 2007, so you would have to check and see if it allows you to see if it allows you to quarantine your infected files. Sorry, thats the best info that I have for now.

If you've got that many bad files in your PC, better run Windows Defender, Adaware and spybot Search and Destroy, all free.
