You should call an attorney. The Welfare system and family services will make you jump through hoops and it is very important that everything is done right so you don't jeopardize you chances at adopting the baby. You have to be approved and will have your home and family situation evaluated and the best person to handle everything is an attorney. If not you will reduce your chances of a successful adoption.

Contact an attorney specializing in adoption, or an agency in your area to help guide you through the legal process which will take time. Your homestudy will take atleast 3 months for approval, and all the of the necessary criteria involved with the homestudy.
In the meantime, you may want to call CPS, to find out if you can foster the child until the legalities of the adoption process are final. Good luck

Call the child welfare department or the department of child and family services, you will still have to go through all the things that any adoptive parent will need to do, such as home study, after this a lawyer will draw up the adoption agreement and that will be that - you may be able to gain temporary custody of the child while you go through all of this though - either legally or informally though I recomend legal temp custody in case you need to make decisions re health care ect

Are you sure they don't want him. After she sees her son for the first time, she may change her mind! I hear that this happens a lot in adoption cases. You are a good woman though. Do it! Good luck!

Ask advice of an attorney. But, I believe that you still have to go thru the whole adoption process. I commend you for standing up for this baby. Hope all goes well. Good Luck!

You need to contact a lawyer experienced in adoption law. If you cannot afford a lawyer, check in the phone book for anyone that provides legal aid on a free or sliding-scale fee basis.

Be SURE to get it legally done, and official in every way, in case they change their minds 5 or 10 years down the road and want him back. Get to a family affairs lawyer and follow his advice---he will have all the possibilities covered legally for you.
