Okay so its been offically 1 month since i had my extraction and the recovery seems to be coming along great but just 2 days ago this little sharp thing popped out at the side of my gums a little below my extracted tooth slot. Its sharp and its been bothering me because its been scratching my cheeks; is this a piece of the tooth that was not removed and is coming out or is this not normal and gonna be a problem ?

I was wondering, if i dont remove it will there be any major problems or will it slowly go back inside my gums ?

Call the dentist who did the extraction and say you need an emergency visit because you think a piece of root was left behind.

It could be a remaing piece of tooth, or more likely a fragment of bone that has worked its way up to the surface. It should be removed as it could lead to infection. Maybe you need to call the dentist back.

This is a bone spicule that sometimes gets pushed out by your gums as it heals. It is not a problem, just go back to your dentist and he will just remove the piece.

What you have is none as a bone fragment and is very common. It usually works its way out but if it bothers you, then dental office that did the extraction should remove it @ no charge.
