should there be more or less exploration and mining on public lands in the United States? Explain please.?

in my personal opinion i don't believe public lands should be used for the gain of companies, like privately owned power companies, and for profit corporations. public land is just that beloning too the public. on the same token conservation and wise use of that land should be planned, and voted on by the people who will be affected by the use of the land, for instance in alaska, the native peoples should have a bigger say in what happens to their tribal home land, not just the big oil companies and the gasoline driven government.
