My social studies teacher uses tha quote " stewing in your jucies" alot. Especaily when shes refering to after school detenion

It means "to suffer the consequences of your own actions". And when you're in detention, you'll have a lot of time to think about what you've done, like something slowly cooking in its own juice.

Means you need to simmer down (stewing means to simmer or sit for a long period of time) in your own juices refers to your own conscience, guilt. In other words sit and think about what you did.

I've always heard of this in connection with not getting out of bed in the morning so he stayed in bed and just stewed in his own juices. if you leave someone to stew in their own juice, you leave them to worry about something bad that has happened or something stupid they have done. She'll calm down - just leave her to stew in her own juices for a bit.

I think I'm getting "madder by the minute" when I'm stewing in the juices of my own anger and stupidity.... Isn't it usually stupidity that leads to detention, which leads to those angry "juices"???
