I constantly rub my finger nails all the time. Is there a scientific name for this? And is there any information on this?

Any habit that keeps being repeated when you are not paying attention can be a mild form of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder).
When OCD is mild it does not cause any disorders in your life, it should be treated only if it is preventing a person from functioning normally in society.
If rubbing your finger nails is all there is to it, there is nothing to worry about.

yours might just be a nervous habit.

hers sounds like obsesseive compulsive disorder and she should seek counseling for it before she has no more teeth.
