I recommend you go to the doctor.. While you wait though..there exist over-the-counter (OTC) remedies and medications that can alleviate the pain and symptoms of an ear infection, there are no OTC measures that kill the bacteria in the middle ear space that actually cause the infection. The "feel better" measures that work the best are oral pain medications like acetaminophen (Tylenol) or oral pain/antiinflammatory medications, like ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin). Topical anesthetic drops are also available that are applied into the ear canal and basically numb the inflamed ear drum from the outside. But since the infection is caused by bacteria in the middle ear space on the other side of the eardrum, nothing applied externally can help kill the bacteria through the intact eardrum.

If it is the outer ear that is infected, I think you can dilute hydrogen peroxide about 2 water to 1 peroxide, and pour that in your ear. Hot shower, alternating with an ice water soaked washcloth to the ear will increase circulation to the area to help fight the infection. Two minutes hot, 30 seconds of cold (more or less) alternate 3-5 times.

Start yelling at it and generally just being really demeaning towards it. Tell it how good it coulda been if it would only stop hurting and act right. You know stuff like that. If that doesn't work then go to the doctor and get some antibiotics for it. Really if you start yelling at your ear people will think your crazy. Don't take my first bit of advice seriously. LOL
