My son has asthma and just got diagnosed with pnueumonia. He was on antibiotics but they are gone but he still has the cough, he gets a treatment 2 times a day. I took him back to the doctor because now has starting throwing up. I never now when he will. Sometimes he eats fine and doesnt get sick, other times even a little food makes him sick. His doctor says it will pass but I need to know whats wrong with him. Anyone have an answer, experience?

It's amazing to me that people ask strangers, on some random website, about medical conditions, especially when it involves your child. What if we're all quacks!

If you are not satisfied with the answer you got from your own doctor, get a second opinion (from another doctor, not from a website).

Maybe your son has allergies. I have a 2 year old in the same situation w/o the throwing up. My son has allergies and asthma and it seems that allergies trigger the asthma once to the point of him having RSV. I know its hard especially when you see your baby suffer. I always give it like 24 hours after he sees the doctor before I call back when Im not feeling satisfied. Dont ever underestimate your gut feeling. Usually you are right and there is something else there. You might get a second opinion or take him to the ER where there are different doctors. Good luck. My prayers are with you and your son.

It's the asthma meds - at 2 he can self heal if you take him to a Naturopathic Doctor (find out more here: http://www.naturopathic.org/) There are many reasons a child develops asthma and most can be fixed with the proper diet and breathing exercises. Your Dr will only prescribe medicine because he is compensated for doing so. Please consider alternative therapy a cure is far better than a treatment. My daughter had an under developed GI and I was told she would be medicated her whole life to tolerate foods, by consulting a Naturopath I was able to treat her by slow introduction of foods and herbal therapy. She is 18 now and you would never know she had any health problems ever. Good Luck!

You are having quite the ordeal huhhh...........do not fret....the antibiotics should have took care of the pneumonia but I am almost sure that he is coughing up phlym which will make almost any small youngster throw up. They just don't know how to get rid of it yet. I would watch what you are giving him for a few days......stay away from dairy products which will make the phlym thicker and harder to get up out of his chest. As long as he isn't running a fever I would not worry much. It is very important to make sure he drinks plenty of fluids. Dehydration is the main threat for your little one. Keep a sippy cup handy for him. And keep up with how many times he pees. When they get to dehydrated they will stop peeing. Ask your Dr. for an expectorant...........there are good over the counter ones. And keep giving him his breathing treatments regularly. Those will help loosen up his chest. I have 8 children all together and one with asthma. But its not bad.

Good luck

Throwing up is common in young kids with asthma. My brother has had chronic asthma since he was about a year old. He's had pneumonia several times as a result of it, and vomiting was fairly common for him as well. As for what's 'wrong' with your son, it's just his asthma and how it affect his body and the occasional complications from it. It's something he'll have to learn his limits for as he grows older. So long as he isn't throwing up blood or anything that looks like old coffee grounds (old blood), then it's par for the course with asthma in a little one. Just keep his doctor aware of any changes in his condition, but otherwise, just have him rest and keep things away from him that can aggravate his asthma more.

Now, I realize I am not a two year old, but when I had pneumonia the antibiotics made me throw up. It continued for a few days after I ran out of them.

Go and get a second opinion or take him to the hospital if he gets any worse. Pnuemonia is a serious disease for young children and if you don't like any of the answers the doctors are giving you demand that there is a problem with him and you want him to get better.
