He's invited me to visit him in California. We met in Atlanta and had a great weekend together, and I'd like to see him again. Do I buy the plane ticket, or should he? The money is not a problem for either of us, but I'm not sure how to approach it. I'd like for him to take the initiative and arrange everything, but I don't want to seem like a mooch.

I think you should buy your own ticket. If you get there and things don't work out, you don't want to feel like you owe him anything. I'd buy my own so this meeting would feel more like we were on equal footing...and not like he did me a favor, or like I took advantage of him.

I think I'd be more worried about the precident it sets in your relationship.

You will be in a much better position if you buy your own ticket and make it clear that you are coming out to visit him, rather than he is bringing you to California.

It has to do with appropriate boundries, and the signals that men get. You want to do more than just get off the plane and jump in the sack (I'd guess) so make him work a little bit...get him to court you. It's a dying art, but if he is a man of quality, he will have an idea as to what to do.

Make it a goal that when you leave him after the visit is over, that you have both had a chance to share intimate knowledge about each other, and you can't wait to learn more.

Oh, and make sure that you find out more about him than he does about you (smile)

When I visit my fiance in Arizona, I buy the plane tickets. When he drives over here to see me in California, he pays for his gas and whatever wear and tear might occur to the car. Tickets are so inexpensive, it has never been an issue. I prefer to fly, because it is faster for me. He prefers to drive.

I don't think there is a problem with either of you paying. Personally, you two are not boyfriend or girlfriend, I wouldn't want him paying for my flight.

It would be nice if he offered to buy the ticket, but he didn't. I don't think there is any committed relationship here,so I think if you want to visit him you need to buy your own ticket. If he were coming to visit you, would you buy the ticket for him? Also if you buy your own ticket, it is a friend visiting a friend without any obligations. Hope you have a great time. Nanc

if he wants to see you then he should pay --- if the money is not a problem to either then you are not being a "mooch" --- i never have a problem paying for everything (well except cigarettes -- i hate smoking)

Just ask him about splitting half of the cost. Thats only fair since you are flying out to see him, unless of course you invited yourself then it should be you who pays.

I'd split it, or maybe see if he offers to pay for it. But don't wait too long! You wanna get a good deal, right?!

I think that would be your responsibility and this would allow him to not expect anything extra if he were to be asked to pay for it..however, if he offers politely say yes...but let him make that decision for himself.
