I've had an itchy throat for over 2 years and the Dr's can't do anything. Even if I go into the kitchen and my partner is cooking onions or cooking with oil and I breath in ... throat itches and I spend the next five minutes coughing. I've had this problem ever since I awallowed a fish bone.

You are probably allergic. It's probably not to all fruit apples, pears and peaches and cherries are closely related. But not at all related to bananas, kiwis or oranges. Within each family you may be more or less allergic. For instance my husband is allergic to eggplant, but not allergic to potatoes if they are peeled and cooked and a small reaction if he eats a lot of tomatoes in a concentrated form like spaghetti sauce. These are all in the same family. You need to go to a good allergist (ask around) and get checked. You may get more allergic to these things as time goes on -watch out and read labels on things like fruit juices, they almost always are a mix of apple and other fruits. Good luck!

you're probably allergic to the fruit. that happened to me when i ate kiwi. I kept trying to clear my throat - like there's phlegm - but couldn't, and then my mom said I ate something I was allergic to.

If you dont want any antihistamines, just avoid that particular fruit that caused the allergic reaction.

Or! you're not allergic and the fruit is just really fibrous that it irritates your throat. For example, some mangoes are too hairy and make youre throat itchy when you eat 'em ^_^

Yep....definitely sounds like an allergy. (I am actually allergic to some fruit as well, especially peaches. When I eat them, my throat itches and I have to move my tongue back and forth to scratch it !) It could also be that you're not allergic to the fruit itself, but to chemicals that grocery stores spray on their fruit to preserve it.

It means you're probably allergic to it. I have Hay fever, so every season, my throat ears and nose itch. Whatever fruits make you itch, stop eating it.

Yes I have this. I have allergies to not the fruit itself but the chemical that fruit produces when it matures, kinda like a flower and pollen
