They have no concept of war.
Edit: This one is tough to say, but sometimes I wish the U.S. would get invaded so some of these pro war people could see the destruction and death that is associate with war. Smell the burnt dead babies, the woman in their prime of life killed, the older people that cannot run away from the carnage becoming the victims, America goes to war in other places and many of the people here continue their every day lives, it has very little impact on their lives. Can you imagine going to Walmart and having a car blow up and you losing a limb just because you needed to buy something for supper. It must be horrible. Of course I really do not wish for the country to be invaded but people need to wake up to the damage that we do in other country's.

Erudite,
I know what your handle means. If you are educated then you are probably a sensitive person.
One of my great uncles was a fighter pilot in WW2 in the South Pacific. His plane was shot from under him. He got out and got his parachute open, but he was shot hanging in the air before he got to the water.
Another of my great uncles was captured and put through the 'Bataan Death March'. He survived, though thousands of others died or were killed along the way.
One of my uncles went down in an A-6 Intruder (attack jet) in the Gulf of Tonkin (during the Viet Nam war).
One of my other uncles flew over 30 missions in B-17s over Germany. He is still alive and living in California.
My father was in the 3rd wave at Normandy and spent 10 months on the front lines battling Hitlers' forces (he survived 5 major battles). He lived to be 83 and passed away last year (August, 2006)
My brother and I were in the Army and Navy respectively, but we didn't see combat.
My nephew was in the army, but didn't see combat.
We know first hand what war can do, but what we understand is that it is better to take your chances defending freedom than it is to take a chance on living under some dictator, king or despot. We don't want to find out what we had after it's gone (also known as preventive medicine).

What is your point? No one thinks it is fine for a 19 yr old or a 40 yr old to be killed in Iraq. Do anti war people think it is okay for us to all be dead or under Al Queda control? You defend others & stand your ground or the Hitlers of the world take over. Your reasoning is way way off.

I'm sorry to hear about the young soldier. sound like he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.. When I was in Viet Nam my best friend was shot on our third day in country . He died in my arms .. We were just punk kids our dream was to save our country and come home hero's .. I came home to a country that grated me with spit on my uniform and calls of baby Killer .. He came home a true hero. I still today ware his Catholic cross and have not forgotten my friend .. I went on to become a 1st Sgt and retire form the USA.. The young solder is like my friend he has already become more in life than most people will ever achieve a Hero..

Another Saudi big game hunter bagged his prey. The "super" snipers in Iraq are coming from the ranks of Bush's own buddies.
Well to do Saudis come to hunt or finance these hunts with very sophisticated equipment. What will Bush do about this?

Our Troops are going thru that in Iraq, and most of them are on Bush's side. They beleive in what they're doing, a lot of them wanna go back to Iraq, it's something YOU won't ever understand, only we do.

Probably because they are not there having to fight this war themselves.
Or, because the friends and family of soldiers succumb to the pressures of coginitive dissonance, and to relieve the reality of the war's wrongness and the dissonance caused by their loved ones or themselves being involved in it, they simply convince themselves by any means necessary that it must have been right.
Some soldiers, like my brother, knew that this war was wrong and a terrible mistake, however, he had no choice to fulfill his contract, which was made before september 11th, and before we had any clue about Bush's megolomaniac tendencies.

No, it sucks. Every person killed by the fanatical Muslims is a life taken by evil. However, I don't think anyone is willing to put up our hands as a nation and surrender to Islam, are you?

Our military members are literate volunteers. They know the definition of military. They volunteered to serve our nation.
