No, it is a point of honor among repair people to keep customers waiting the most amount of time. If the customer can lose a whole day's work, so much the better.

I have only had one repairperson show up at the appointed time (within the given hours) in many years. I worked in a hardware store many years ago, and made sure that I learned how to do lots of simple home repairs myself, so I don't have to have deal with waiting for repair people.

I had the local furnace company send someone out to service the furnace for the winter season a couple of years ago. He showed up an hour later than he was supposed to, forgot the new filters and the shop vac.

He ended up using my vacumn to clean the filters and other equipment, barely spent 15 minutes in all. He was supposed to bring new filters, never did. I received a bill for $85.00 and had to clean out my vacumn and buy my own filters.

That was the last time that happened. I called a friend who owns multiple properties and does a lot of his own repairs, he came to the house and taught my husband and I how to bleed the lines and do the seasonal clean, and I have saved at least $85.00 per year since then.

YES! I was so shocked the other day I was told he would come from 11-12 and he came at 10.30. I was pleased as punch....of course the reason I was so happy was becasue he was early and that is not a common thing for tradesmen to be on time...which is all rather sad.

Yep, the washer repairman, AND the cable company. It's a miracle, I know.
