I am only taking a carry on (not checking) and I have some beauty products that are larger than 3 oz. Can I put them in small unmarked bottles or in plastic bags, or does everything have to be in a store bought bottle? Does the stuff in my purse count toward that pint-sized ziplock bag limit? Does deoderant and toothpaste count? Eyeshadow in a tube? I am only going for 3 days and don't want to buy stuff there.

You can put some of your liquids into small unmarked bottles. If they're not marked security may ask you about them and check more carefully. The liquids you carry all must go in one quart size bag. No liquids can be loose in your purse. Solid deodorant doesn't have to go in the bag. Toothpaste does. Eye shadow in a tube that is creamy needs to go in a bag. If it's more solid like lipstick, you can leave it out of the bag. You should be able to get by for three days.... if you think it though.

Here's the US Transportation Security Administration's website with their list of permitted and prohibited items: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm

The exact rules are on www.tsa.gov (That's the gov't. agency that makes these rules). I think it's best to keep everything in store-bought bottles, not unmarked. I know the rules are stupid but if the bottle is not marked then there's no way for them to know if the bottle is 3 ounces or not. Deodorant and toothpaste and makeup all count, I believe. (Not sure about the stick type of deodorant though since that's really more of a solid).

Of course, the security personnel can be pretty stupid. A few months ago, I was traveling with a sealed package of sausage since it couldn't be found in my destination city. I had frozen it, so it wouldn't go bad, and took it on my carry-on baggage. The security agent said he had to "check with his supervisor" to see if that was allowed... since it was frozen it "might be a liquid". Like I said, it was in a sealed clear package. And clearly marked.

But I digress. Check the TSA website for more specifics. And you can of course buy trial-size stuff that is less than 3 ounces.

confident, you could (and could) stick to the three-a million-a million policies for a worldwide flight. i'm no longer precisely advantageous what TSA meant with the aid of the "short journeys" fact; i'm guessing they do no longer choose human beings to aim and positioned across a week's well worth of shampoo with the aid of protection. save all your large toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, styling products (ditch the aerosol hairspray, nonetheless), etc. on your checked bags, and be advantageous to place them in Ziploc bags only in case they leak. And confident, you could take save on bags into the showering room. you will pay attention one hundred reminders to "save a special watch on your bags" and "document any and all unattended bags to the closest airport protection workers" throughout your holiday; on no account flow away your bags someplace with out somebody observing them (i.e. you or your boyfriend). Oh, and changing outfits should not be a subject - in case you think of you would be wanting extra area than a time-honored stall will furnish, discover a handicap stall and alter in there. Have a large holiday and characteristic exciting interior the united kingdom (i'm jealous)!!
