teflon skillet, the microwaved--and in all this process has no bad odor, should it be thrown out (or sampled in very small amount) to determine whether it might be safely edible).

My perhaps false reasoning says that with microwaving, wouldn't that remove the possibility of contracting food poisining.

If it was less than two hours between store and refrigerator then you should be okay. Did the meat get to room temperature? In any event, in theory, cooking it until it is at least 175 degrees Farenheit should kill any bacteria (specifically salmonella) that may have grown. Microwaves don't heat evenly so it would be safer to cook in a skillet or the oven. If youcook it in the skillet you want to make sure that all of it is brown (no grey spots) to make sure it has cooked completely. If you are serving the meat to small children, the elderly, or someone who is now or who has been sick, throw it out. These groups are too fragile to handle even a little salmonella. In the future, keeping a cooler in your car is a good idea when shopping, then if you have to stop after the store and before home or if the car is hot (either from the heater or the air) you don't run the risk of warming cold foods.

I would recommend to use a skillet, sometimes microwaving is not as thorough as when food is cooked over the fire.

Depending on:
a) If the ground chix is frozen when left outside. The chix should still be ok if it's still chilled (that's after say, 2-3 hours during summer time)

b) if chix is just chilled when left out, and it's already warm, gash it

Or, use the traditional way, if it smells funny, feed it to the bin.

If you feel that the chicken has reached a temp above 40 degrees, throw it out. Between 40 and 140 degrees is the danger zone where bacteria grows. I wouldnt risk it at all. Its not worth it.
