What I read said that crunches do so little for your abs that you are better off doing full sit ups, slowly. But I've read other things that say that sit ups are bad for you. Go figure. The world is full of self-proclaimed experts who don't know anything.

Crunches do work, but if you have a layer of fat over your abs, even with a billion crunches you wont see results. You must do cardio as well to burn the fat for crunches to be effective.
