Do you have a cold? Be sure to blow your nose, don't sniff. Try using some nose spray because when your nose is clear, it allows fluid to escape from your ears.
Don't use nose spray for more than three days in a row. You can get a rebound effect from too much nose spray: the mucous lining in your nose becomes "dependent" on it.

It prob. is clogged and prob. infected. Usually if it hurts like that you have an infection starting or already well on it's way. Try taking some decongestant, that might clear it up.
