okay, last week I asked this girl if she wanted to go to the movies with me, and then she said she couldn't because she had a dance competition. She really did. Anyway, yesterday the topic came up again, and then I told her I couldn't go because I had no ride (I didn't, our car was smashed up...I'm in high school, it was my dad's car). I also told her that I still needed somebody to go with. She said "maybe if you find somebody they can give you a ride." I usually read too much into things, and probably am, but does that mean anything? The real question however is how can I bring up the topic again tomorrow to ask her if she wants to go? I need a smooth way, so I don't look desperate or needy. If you're going to say "I believe in being honest and open and blah blah blah" please don't bother answering.....

I almost forgot....when I asked her what she did over the weekend, she mentioned the dance thing, but she also said she slept a lot. Is she trying to tell me that she had time to sleep but not to go to the movies?? lol I know I'm paranoid.

You're miserable in a kinda good way. The way you finished your statement. It says that you want stuff your way, subconsciously or not. A guy like you doesn't need any help. Maybe she said that as a means of having her end of the conversation answered or maybe she wants to go after her competition. What if you went to her competition and the two of you left? You can play it and a desperate- sweet way. You can say, 'What if I found someone to take me? It wouldn't be fun because I wouldn't have the prettiest girl by my side, who happens to have a dance competition that day. What would you feel if I didn't enjoy my day?' Play the guilty trick on her while giving her the charm. Good luck.

Since she actually bothered to ask you again, there looks like there is some potential here. Plan on going to the movies with a group and ask her if she wants to join you all. That way this takes the pressure off you and you can leap from there to see if this could be more than a group thing later.
