No, it should not. Public (or private, for that matter) school is not a right, it is a privilege. You do not have the right to disrupt the others in your classes, and keep them from learning. There are rules set by the school board and by the faculty. If you do not follow them, you should be punished accordingly.

Following the rules in school, fair or not, is excellent preparation for real life, where the rules are often not fair, and may make no sense whatsoever. If you are not able to follow the rules in real life, though, the punishment can be much worse than detention.

There are limits to freedom of speech. Like when it is a distraction to other Young people trying to learn.

Logically, my rights end where yours begin--that is, I can say or print whatever I want, as long as it doesn't hurt you. (The classic example of this is yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre.)

there is a freedom of the press and of speech so that ppl can express the way they feel to the public but not in a away the it offends ppl(such as calling names which is straight up rude) but none the lesss ppl still call ppl names and slander ppl not caring about their reputation...........so no the freedom of the press and of speech should not allow students to wear shirts w/ watever they wat because who knows wat could b on them.........they also should not allow ppl to just call ppl wat ever they want because its rude, unconsiderate, and think about it would you want others to call you wat ever name they wanted to(i bet i wont b the only one sayin that)

as long as students are respecting each other and not hurting anyone then they should be able to do what they want.
