Some people may have different ways, but these are the steps that I use:
1. open the door and release the clips for the top, where the fabric meets the plastic door surround. repeat for other door.
2. loosen the clips behind the sun visors on both sides. don't completely unhook them.
3. remove the side windows. The zipper starts behind the velcro at the back of the jeep. The side windows should completely detach from the rest of the top.
4. open the tailgate and there should be a zipper on both sides of the back window near the bottom of the window. Just unzip these until you can roll the back window up to secure with the straps at the top of the window. Remember to clean the window or you risk scratching the window (chunks of mud :) tend to mark up the window too)
4. unhook the back panels that are between the side windows and the back window from the tub (the body of the jeep) and flip them up on top of the top.
5. release the latches behind the sun visors.
6. go to the back of the jeep and pull down on the top and it should start angling towards the back of the rear seat. be careful that it does not suprise you and drop down suddenly as the center support folds!

Now you can drive around topless!

Jeep Wrangler Soft Top Removal

First open or remove the doors. You then have to loosen the frame of the soft top. There should be spreader bars or something around the back side windows to release the tension on each side. Then you have to unzip the back side windows and remove them. Then pull the front of the top out of the windshield channel. You should then be able to unhook the frame from the corners by the front of the windshield. Then, as you pull the soft top fabric toward the back of the jeep, the frame should collapse and fold down, allowing you to tuck the fabric in behind the seat or in a soft top boot.

That's how it was for my Bestop Supertop on my Wrangler YJ.

Here's what I would do if I didn't have a manual. Go to the dealer and ask. They will give your hands on advise.

Or.....just look at it and start from the front of the car and start removing things. Its only a soft top. Your not changing a head gasket.

I just removed my dash this weekend.....never done it before....reinstalled it when I was done working behind it.

Its a JEEP......git dirty

Read the manual or just look at the thing and use your common sense. They are not that hard. As for the zipper. Get some lithium grease in a spray can. It repels water great. WD-40 is not so good at doing that for long periods at a time. Lithium grease lasts for months to a year and is found at most auto part stores.

I cannot find how to remove the top from the windshield, it has no snaps inside under the sun visor.
