Ok, I will probably sound like the biggest freak you have ever heard of on here before, but I have to get this off my chest. It's very annoying, and stressful to think about it. I feel paranoid at times at night. I love reading about history, and reading about those who have died in the past, etc. However, (this will sound really stupid to you, but I would appreciate some appropriate answers to give one of you that are lucky 10 extra points) for some reason, at night, I get this irrational fear that I'm being chased after or something, and I'm going to die. I'm usually alone a lot, and I get scared sometimes for just irrational reasons that don't make any sense. At night, I get a feel of anxiety when I'm trying to sleep where I continuously have bad thoughts, and I can't think clearly, while I'm excessively burning up in a stressful amount of heat under the cover. I've suffered this feeling my whole life, and have really never told anyone about it.

It's just something I need to overcome, because I love reading about the past, and history, but for some reason, I get an unknown fear at night that something bad is going to happen. I try to rehabilitate to good thoughts into my thinking, but it never works. I sleep with my TV on with the sleep timer, but I can never clear my mind from bad thoughts like these at night.

Any tips would be graciously appreciated! I will select a best answer! Thanks in advance! I appreciate it so much!

You are not a freak. Sometimes you can be so tired however, your mind isn't at rest so you have all of these thoughts running through your head when you're trying so desperately to sleep soundly. I also believe that sometimes we are reminded in the weirdest ways that bad things happen during the witching (evening hours) such as dying and all sorts. Because generally speaking, those things tend to happen at night time and it makes you feel saddened and vulnerable as if you're next in line. I know of a close friend who. like you, is going through similar actions as yourself. You should try to clear your mind by talking with a close confidante to clear the mood and think of positive things ONLY. Please don't feel like you're alone. There are many, many countless people out here in the world that go through the same thing. I'm wishing you the best and believe me, everything will be just fine. If you feel comfortable with talking things over with a counselor, do so. Sweet dreams and be happy.

There is a reason for this and I suggest you speak with a counselor about it in talk therapy. There, you can go back to when it first started and see what the root of it is. I would stop reading anything weird at night having to do with death or morbid things. Read something good, funny, or relaxing. Talk to yourself that this is irrational and you are fine. Self-talk is very helpful when you have anxiety. Don't let someone put you on any anti-anxiety drugs either, talk therapy works very well.

Nah, its not stupid and you arent a freak, people have fears and anxieties that way surpass that, but i do think that you should get some counseling, it will help you really understand and face head on what you are dealing with, that way you will be able to change your thoughts when the issue starts to come up. thats what has helped me with anxiety issues, so much that ive stopped taking any drugs completely, ive just been able to switch my thoughts over when the irrationality tries to take over my brain. its difficult, and your okay if maybe you need to take a anti anxiety drug to help, youll get through it fine. good luck

Nighttime anxiety is very common. If you would like to try a natural alternative, you can try Valerian Root before you go to sleep. You may need to go on an anti anxiety that you just take before bed.

It might help if you meditate before you go to bed or try some deep breathing too.
