My eyelids are often a bit swollen. This is probably due to chronic allergies (dust, pollen, etc.), but sometimes due to crying the night before. Is there anything I can do to fix this cosmetic problem? I've tried antihistamines and iced gel packs to no avail.

Oh, don't worry about the crying. I don't cry too terribly often, after all.

Try hot compresses. Use a washcloth in water as hot as you can reasonably stand. Gently apply the compress to your closed eyelids until the compress cools off.

According to my eye Dr, never NEVER use ice packs on swelled eyelids - it makes the matter worse.

Use a warm washcloth. The swelling is due to dirt or whatever getting into your eyelid. The warmth of the washcloth will draw blood to the area and rid the crap buildup causing the swelling to go down.

Cucumbers are the tried and true long time favorite. Just slice in rounds and place on your eyes, then lay down and relax for a few minutes. The cucumbers should be chilled.
