Eyeglasses or surgery are better. With contacts you can trap bacteria in between the lense and your eye so you are more prone to infections and viruses. Contact lenses can scratch your eye as well.

Glasses are better for the health of your eyes. Contact lenses inhibit oxygen from reaching the corneas, increasing chances of infections. Also, the lenses themselves can gather bacteria that can infect your eyes. With good lens hygiene, the risks aren't high, but glasses are definitely safer.
