Lent starts on Ash Wednesday, lasts 40 days not counting Sundays and ends on Holy Saturday, the day before Easter.
In 2007, Ash Wednesday will fall on February 21 and Easter on April 8.

Lent runs from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday. That is 40 days, excluding Sundays, which are mini-Easters.

Starts Ash Wednesday (tomorrow) and lasts until right before Easter...40 days.
I met a Baptist pastor once who wanted to teach his congregation about Lent but was afraid they'd think it was too "Catholic" So he had a 40 day Spiritual Emphasis month that began on Ash Wednesday.

This year Lent begins February 21 and runs until the day before Easter. In this time of reflection, Sundays don't "count" in the 40 days because they are days when we celebrate the resurrection year round.
