Look at your bad habits.
Are you cynical?
Are you sarcastic?
Do you gossip?
Find the one bad habit that hurts your relationship with God the most.
Work on that bad habit during Lent and then when Lent is over keep working on it.
With love in Christ.

Something that you will miss and something that is a pleasure for you-but is unproductive and valueless. For example give up novels or television and read only scripture. Or give up something unhealthy that you enjoy, and maybe you'll be able to maintain the better habit in the future.

We've asked our boys to do something instead of giving something up. Such as: Do something that needs done without being asked, Do something that you don't want to but you've been asked to do without fussing, do something you normally wouldn't take the time to do to help someone else have a better day. In other words try to do something that allows you to give of yourself.

Remember, this choice is completely yours. Even the pope can not interfere in this important decision. May God guide you to a wise choice.

It isn't so much what you give up, but what you give. Are you willing to surrender yourself, your being to Christ? Have you made Him Lord and Savior of your life? If you have then find time to read, meditate on His word on a daily basis. Set time aside to speak with Him telling Him about any sins on your heart, and thank and praise Him for what He has done for you and is doing today in the eternal life which you have today by faith in Him. Set time aside to do some kindness for someone needing your service or encouragement to glorify HIM.
