It depends on the state. I live in the state of Virginia where it is illegal to be in public drunk. The charge is Drunk In Public. Although, some states don't even bother in arresting people for that charge, unless the person is an obnoxious drunk and disturbing the peace of others.

Depends on the state, but in many states they have public drunk laws, in others most likely distrubing the peace, since a drunk does not walk quietly down a street normally

Well, of course you have the right to get drunk all the time,but,think about people you might insult,hurt or even abuse physically. Most heavy drinkers say they are in their proper mind yet,but I believe they're not(ask doctors about the results of alcohol). Walking home while drunk might not only cause chaos but can is a great risk on your part,too. You might sleep on the road,get stabbed or robbed by other people,bumped by a car and the list goes on. Remember,it's good to drink but very bad to be drunk.You're not only endangering yourself but other people too.

Yup. They'll call it 'Public intoxication'. A ticket for that would still be better than drunk driving though!
Just be careful. If you choose to drink and walk...they could fine you, confiscate your shoes and make you go to walking school!

well...not really. it depends on your location and time where federal authorities are on duty 24/7. most of the times u get away with it, but sometimes it suks to be that person. sometimes it suks to be someone like that for drinkin' too much. the law is after you 24/7 so make sure that you know the time and place when u lose ur head and start actin' like a chicken with no head.

ya if you did anything stupid ( which most people do) while your drunk then yes but at least its just a ticket but come to think of it since your like drunk youll probably like jump off a bridge and die or like walk into a pole and fall in the street get run over by a car and then die or something like that but ya its better then getting a D.U.I. at least.

yes. They can get one for public intoxication. however, that isn't major at all. Drunk driving will et you a much larger one.
If you're going to get drunk, do it at home. if you're walking and walk into the street or something, you are a threat to public safety.
Just don't get drunk.

Yes, that would be called public intoxication.
Now, if one can cleverly walk without looking drunk or draw attention to himself, it is possible no one will notice and he can go home without incident.

yes they can, public intoxication, i think its stupid,
they say you shouldn't drive drunk so when someone does the right
thing and walks instead of driving, they still give you a ticket
what is someone to do if they drink to much, sleep at the bar?
