That's cool how you wrote that question just like as if you were speaking with a tongue piercing. Very creative.
Bingo. You've just answered your parents wildest dreams! Don't open your mouth!
How's it done? I'm not sure, but I believe it's a machine similar to a hole punch, but instead of slicing a circle and letting the inner bit pop out, it's more like a needle that, you guessed it, "pierces" your tongue, most likely with a stud all ready to fill the just-made space in your tongue.
I've got a good idea. Don't do it. I have a friend with one, and that's cool. It was done a long time ago, and he's a nice guy. This is 2007 though. Grunge was over at least a decade ago. Have faith in your own tongue as is.

When I got my tongue pierced at 15 I was able to hide it from my dad until I was 18. Of course I took it out at 21, but it was fun while I had it. They pierce it with a needle

You will have to wait a little bit until you can change it out with a clear plastic barbell. Dont want it closing up on you. Just get a clear bar that looks like a small nail (you get them when you buy new barbells from hot topic, etc). Switch out the standard one they put in with that one whenever you are around people you dont want to see it.
As for how they do it.... just like anything else. Dont worry it doesnt hurt much though. Feels like a quick pinch.

A tongue piercing requires your tongue to be help still, a long needle (scary) is inserted, and a ball is placed.
Don't hide it from your parents. You'll be talking funny for a good 2-3 days, and unless you plan on not talking to your parents, they are going to find out and when they do, they will be mad.
Take my advice and talk to them before you do anything.

The person that does it will clamp your tongue, then stick the needle through, followed by the jewlery. Very quick and easy process.

You can buy clear plastic rings that are almost invisible. I have had to use these for work. They used to check our tongues to make sure we didn't have any in because it was against Health & Saftey and they never saw it.
