I have a jeep cherokee sport that i have just bought and plan to make it a 4x4 im limited on money.... just wondering if there was any way to make it 4wd or better off road

I converted a two wheel drive Ford truck to four wheel drive and spend around $1500 in doing it. I started by buying a four wheel drive Ford with a blown engine. I was nickel and dimed to death getting it running right. There was no cutting or welding involved.
The best way to convert a two wheel drive to four wheel drive is to trade it either at a dealer to to a private party.

Its physically possible to do, but of course its easier and a lot cheaper to just buy a 4WD jeep in the first place. I don't see the point in buying a 2WD jeep.

not that bad of a job, but there are little parts you will need.
front axle -- direct swap make sure it has gears to match your rear (unbolt the 2wd and bolt the 4wd in)
trans / t-case -- remove your current trans, install one front a 4wd
use the stock 4wd drive shaft (front and rear)
use stock 4wd shifter and linkage
make sure to get an axle that doesn't have the CAD
you wont have a 4wd indicator
Best bet is to buy a wrecked 4wd that is very similar to yours (motor, trans, t-case, gears, interior color) extra parts are a good thing

Aint cheap or smart cuz could be done with a cutting torch &wire feed welder but 4by on 2wd chassis man i can feel it coming trade in makes more sense

The cheapest and easiest way would be trade it in for a 4 x 4.

find a wrecked 4x4 to get all your parts from buy it then you just need to switch everything over axel suspension trans transfercase drive shafts among other parts
