im 13 so i dont want a childish or real grown up hair do either my dance is semi formal and i need kinda and up-do typething my hair is shoulder length with layers. any pictures?

Take the top layer of your hair and curl it, leave all other layers strait it looks really pretty.

OK first if you have a flat iron, preferably a Chi, flat iron your hair. Then get the top layer and flip it under. next layer make it curly at the end. then flip the bottom layer out.

Usually teen magazines have special prom issues, such as teen, seventeen, or cosmo girl pick up a couple of those and look through them to find a hair style you like.

listen some nice curls would drive your date crazy but if you want straight its not going to work unless if you were born with curls then thats ok trust me its better

try a really classy ponytail. it doesn't have to be super fancy.
