Flossing everyday is number one! Brushing inside your cheeks and tongue also. The cause for bad breath is plaque build up and more than 50% of plaque in the mouth comes from places OTHER than just between the teeth! It's all over the mouth.
Take this test- floss your teeth, then after pulling the floss out, smell it. You can tell by the smell on the floss and your fingers - how your breath smells. Usually it smells like dirty diapers if you don't floss each day!
Another tip - go out and buy a "Tongue Scraper" - they sell these in the oral hygiene department of your local pharmacy. Scrap your tongue with that and see how much plaque build up you have on your tongue. You'll be amazed, and probably disgusted.
Mints are only a temporary solution and will just "cover up" your bad breath. Do a proper job of cleaning your mouth and you'll be set.
Hope this helps!

Depends how bad it is.
Brushing teeth is always a good start.
Also, avoid the Atkin's diet, because ketosis makes your breath smell awful.
Chewing sugerless gum is okay, but be aware that some people hate the smell. I had a girlfriend who would gag if I was chewing cinnamon gum.
Brushing your tounge. Scraping is incomplete and for cowards.
Gargle with Listerine, and let it get down deep.
Stop ordering "extra fresh garlic" from the pizza joint.
SOME bad breath is caused by intestinal problems, and you may need to see a doctor about that....however, there is a product that you swallow (I think it is called "Breath Assure") which is a combination of herbs meant to deal with that issue.
Know that the smell of your breath (as well as the smell of your body) can be very offensive to vegetarians. I learned this in Vietnam, where people who live on fish and rice think Americans smell like water buffaloes.
Of course, we all thought they smelled like "Charlie Tuna".
Last, if all else fails, whenever you get close enough to someone for them to smell your breath, suddenly exclaim, "OH MAN!!! Do you smell that stink??? Where is THAT coming from..."

Many times its not only about brushing your teeth, what you eat also influences on your breath...so I would recommend you to see a doctor and check if you have something wrong with your digestive system which is causing the bad breath. But of coure, brushing your teeth 2-3 times a day is essencial!!

Here are a couple of my suggestions. One, brush your teeth and gums regularly, at least three times a day or after every meal. Also, use commercial mouth washes regulary. Third suggestion would be to routinely use a breath mint now and then throughout the day.

First step is to visit your dentist every 6 months.
On a daily basis:
1. Floss.
2. Massage gums between teeth with toothpick.
3. Brush thorougly, including the hard to reach back teeth (it's easy to miss the back teeth).
4. Risne and gargle for at least 30 seconds using Listerene.

If you have healthy teeth and gums your tongue could be the culprit.
You should brush your tongue every time you brush your teeth, even if it makes you Gag!
The bacteria on your tongue not only causes bad breath it is also a carrier of flu and cold germs that can linger forever.
Bacteria party on the residue left in your mouth from eating and drinking. They Party Hearty and then have to relieve themselves. Their Relief is the bad taste you get in your mouth as it turns to acid.
Not a Happy thought but the truth!

all good answers so brush regularly and make sure the white stuff is off your tongue. Floss EVERYDAY. when you brush don't forget about the roof of your mouth as well as the inside of your cheeks. I have cavities and my breath really is bad somedays. on theworst days I gargle with a diluted mix of hydrogen peroxide - it is safe cause it breaks down to oxygen and water. If you gargle with straight peroxide it can chemically burn the sensitive skin in your mouth. Dilute it oh five or ten to one.. Good luck...oh and go see a dentist.

Brush, Clean, Listerine. Also, stay away from dairy products such as eggs or milk because they cause bad breath.

If you can't get rid of it by brushing, flossing and mouthwash, maybe you should seek the advice of a dentist. Maybe you have gingivitis or peridontal disease. Make sure you see a dentist 2x a yr. for regular cleanings.
