Cats spray on a vertical surface and of course urinate straight down on the floor (or hopefully litterbox). A female cat who is in heat with mark her territory with urine, maybe spraying maybe just urinating.

I have a 13 year old spayed female who sprays the fence outside because there is a cat on the other side of the fence. I have seen her do it a number of times.

Cats of both gender spray, to mark territory or tutor sadness at transformations occurring round them. truly regularly it really is finished by men, yet lady cats do it besides. maximum individuals have their cats neutered and spayed earlier they attain sexual adulthood, which prevents this habit from arising, yet some cats will proceed even after having the op. Cats squat at the same time as they urinate, notwithstanding spraying is done interior the status position adverse to vertical products. many times the cat backs as a lot because the objective, factors it really is tail upwards and sprays a shot of urine.

Female cats don't spray to mark their territory. If she is urinating outside the litter box, it maybe a sign of potential problems like a urinary tract infection, kidney problems, diabetes, etc. It could also be a behavior issue -- new things/pets in the home, kitty litter she doesn't like, etc. If she is doing this regularly, you should take her to the vet for a urinalysis.

I have never seen a female cat spray although I've seen them quiver their tails and act like it. I don't know if they can actually.

if there are no medical issues, she may be spraying out of spite, boredem, or just to mark her territory.
behavioral training, i use a squirt gun spray to the face or rear and a firm NO, might help.
