Do you have to wait till your next period or can you take it as soon as you think you may be pregnant?

You will get the most accurate results if you wait until the day your period is due or after.

Planned Parenthood told me to wait until you are two weeks late on a period to do a urine test. They did tell me that a blood test at the hospital can detect pregnancy as soon as conception; however, you cannot be pregnant until five days after the act...so there is a grace period.

you can take it as soon as you like, however, in order for it to detect hCg in your urine, you should wait until within a day of your next period. Some OTC tests are more sensitive than others, allowing you to test sooner.
hCg is released into your body as soon as the fertilized egg implants into the womb...until that happens, it is simply floating along towards the womb and you are not yet pregnant. A blood test can detect the hormone sooner than a home test (usually that can be done around the 10th day after conception).

3 or more weeks is a very good time to wait after missing a period. As women, our bodies can react to many different situations. Stress , change of diet and even illness can make our periods late. Our bodies change every 7 years we basically get a new one. That too can have an affect on our cycles. Just relax and wait and see.

Just about the earliest you can predict pregnancy with a over the counter test would be 5 days before your period is due to start. With a blood test you would be able to find out sooner.

Assuming you are talking about diy pregnancy test kits, they are more reliable after the time whereby you should be having your next period.
