Look up the breed on the net and even if it a mutt an know all breeds lines in your dog you can get a good idea. Also, the paws if they look like someone took the paws off a big dog and put them on this little creature than most likely it will be a big dog.

A lot of times paw size can be a telltale sign. Oversized paws on a puppy=big dog later on. Other than that, just look to see what breed of dog it most resembles, and research the size of that breed. There really isn't anything that can tell you for sure with a mixed-breed puppy!

It really depends on what kind of dog it is if you do not know then take a look at the size of his feet. If he has big feet then he will be a big dog and smaller feet will be a smaller dog.

Primarily on it's breed characteristics. If you know it's a Shepard then chances are it's going to be a big dog...if you have no idea, try looking at it and see if you can determine any of the characteristics of a particular breed, then research that breed. This should give you a pretty good idea of what it will be like.

It depends on the breed. You can probably find a size charT according to breed on the internet. Golden retrievers are big. Toy poodles are small. It's always that way!
