How intelegent is too intelegent if you have a limit like that? If people have limis as to how low they are willing to go for intelegence, wouldn't there be an upper limit?

I do not mean someone that brags about being of irrelevent intelegence. I am asking could you go out with someone like Enistein? I mean would you feel comfortable with someone that is a lot smarter than you even if they try to pretend that they are not.

Intelligence is measurable to a point, if that is what you are asking, but there does come a point that testing instruments become useless. However, I will say that people for whom that is true are rare! Only a handful of people EVER have been so insanely intelligent that tests couldn't measure it -- even Einstein's IQ was measurable.
I think the thing is that everyone has a weaker area; some people are extremely talented in language and the arts while others are gifted in mathematics. Hardly anyone is very talented in all the areas, so it makes it easier to test in that way.
(I hope I didn't misunderstand your question!)

For some people, their intellectual abilities are truly their greatest assets and many work exceedingly hard to meet certain education goals. I don't think a person who brags a little about their smarts is any worse than someone who talks about how great they were at football in their high school days. If it's something their proud of, who are you to tell them it's not worth bragging about? However, it is all in moderation. A lot of bragging about anything would get old, even intelligence.

Umm... I've never really thought about that, but it's interesting. I generally want(need?) a guy that is at least my intelectual equal, if not slightly superior. Because if they aren't at least on par with me, I get bored. But then again I don't want someone that's so serious and 'brainy' that I can't goof off with for fear of them thinking I'm stupid.... or worse, someone who is so 'brainy' that I can't hold casual conversation with...
So I guess the upper limit would be 'nobody so much smarter than me that I look ignorant in comparrison' and the lower limit would be 'nobody that i feel like I'm loosing IQ points just from trying to engage their brains a little bit'.....

Nobody can be too intelligent! I like smart. What bothers me is improper use of grammar. It drives me absolutely crazy. If someone talks like a thug or uses terrible grammar, that is where I draw the line. I am an intelligent woman and I want to have relationships with people on the same level.

As long as the person doesn't try to shove his intelligence down my throat by belittling me, I don't have a limit. I have a bachelor's degree and my current bf is working on his seventh degree--which includes two masters--a p.h.d in psychology/counseling.

Intelligence -- and limits of? As far as what's personally considered too smart for you to date?
It's all personal perception, and to an extent, we're all intelligent in our own unique ways dependent on our personality and interests.. I guess it's more of a persoanity clash than the other being "too smart" for you

Can't stand a know-it-all. One sign of intelligence is not rubbing it in others' faces. And besides, most extremely intelligent people would not go out of their way to tell you their IQ, most are pretty modest about it.
