What is the best wood to use for B-B-Q. I have used Hickory and Mesquite. Has anyone used Cherry, Apple, or Oak?

Sandalwood! Great for barbecues because it just infuses everything with a really good flavour. Expensive, though :)

I like apple too, and you can't go past a good old gum tree! Each has a really unique flavour.

I have found mesquite to be the best in my opinion. But I know others out there who have tried apple and swear by it.

I like Hickory and Pecan myself... not a mesquite fan.

Apple is great - especially if cooking pork!

Just make sure you make a nice apple sauce to go on the side!

Cherry works good, I use it with everything because it gives it more of a somked look.

I have used and still do all you have listed.

My only advice is never use pine! Unless you want your food to taste like Pine-Sol!
