Well, I don't know about you, but I plan on living long enough and staying healthy enough to have intelligent conversations with my great-grandchildren.
I can't quite see a strong correlation between religious affiliation and journal-keeping, one way or the other.

We posed a question in the group, asking members to make a list of five things they'd like to do before they die. For nearly every respondent, one of the answers involved writing a book, a screenplay, a musical...something involving writing.
I'd like to see a study done on it, because from what I see, there is a possibility that atheists really love to write, and write a lot, and I'd like to know why. I keep a group, a blog, I post a lot here, all since I became an atheist...and I think that part of the reason is that I enjoy communicating now, because I have so many friends who are also atheists, and so much in common with them. There was never that sense of connection before.
I won't be leaving a grave behind for my kids to visit (morbid), or an urn for them to put on a shelf (morbid and a little creepy), and they are both atheists, so they won't be thinking about me in heaven or hell or floating around their houses. They will want to remember me, and understand as they get older what made Mum tick, and yes, their kids and grandkids don't need to be getting their information second-hand, we value historical accuracy and first-hand accounts in this family!

I think it would be better to ask the types of journals that one might keep. I think it would be more likely for a christian to keep a journal that would be solely based on spiritual matters (ie a prayer journal, a fast journal, etc.) I don't think one group is more likely to keep them in general, but I do think they would entirely different in the material that was being written and the goal of the journal, though some may be in common.

I'm an atheist and I've kept a journal for more than 10 years now....it keeps my focused.
I also like to go back and see what I was doing and thinking last year or the year before.
However my mother is a Christian and she also keeps a journal.

I don't keep any sort of journal, never have either. All my important and major ideas I come up with, I immediately email to three or four researchers via anonymous email and let them have them.
When I die, I want to be utterly forgotten. I want my ideas to stand entirely on their own.
