I think we all get a little defensive whe it comes to our faith or as some would say religious believes. Our country has undergone so many changes in recent years and there is alot of controversary about many subjects. We should be able to discuss with anger but I will admit to getting angry when I feel my belief is being challenged in such a way that it makes the God that created us look like a tyrant. Let's hope your question will help us all try harder to be more civil when discussing the more controversial subjects. I have to say this though that when it comes to some subjects I don't think we can find common ground but we can discuss in a civil manner.

Hey Midge,
I know some people can be really rude here. However, many are looking for the Way, Truth and the Light of the world. If we help one person find the Truth in Jesus, then we have been good servants to our Lord and Savior.
God Bless.

I don't think so....there are "civil" out here. I think this is a great forum to share ideas and beliefs. The constant search for your truth, the truth of your being, is always a good thing as long as you are not hurting another....the key is to not offend, agree to disagree, and maybe we can learn something from one another or connect with others that have similar views.

It's worth a try anyway. And as an Evangelical Christian turned Pagan, I know I have learned a lot about Judaism, Islam, and Mormonism through this site--which is pretty handy considering today's political scene and world events.

People have mind of their own. Or shall we say, a belief or philosophy already. When I put something on here am just stating facts. Not to be argued or questioned. Take or leave it. End of the question.

It's fun. I like the people. I like the subject. I like to argue!
And there's always the chance to put the truth out there for all to see. You're wrong in assuming people don't change because of what they read. Knowledge is power. You don't think a lot of people have become atheists because they've come to the only logical conclusion through investigation and education and critical thinking?

It is really difficult to get someone to open up and admit that what you say makes sense in this area as all answers are based on a belief system. This forces rigidity and inflexibility. Also, each person on this particular subsection as a warrior for their faith. Strength in numbers and the victor writes history to suit their god(s) and beleifs.

I am not Here for Common Ground, I am here to Help by Telling the Truth.
Listen, I don't Care if they don't Acknowledge what I say!
I worked with a guy after I got Saved and I was on Fire for GOD.
He would sit in the Truck with a Stick in his hands (he just wanted to Kill somebody) and Listen to me Talk about what GOD was doing in my Life and What GOD was Teaching me.
He wasn't Saved.
He Quit, and Three years later, I ran into him, he was Saved and Filled with the Holy Ghost, and a Decon (dee-con) in the Chuch Building he was going to.
Hahaha, I don't Care if they still don't like what I said, They READ it and it went INTO their Brains!
GOD can use that to get them SAVED LATER.
I seen it work!
Fo' Real.
Ditto....................

This isn't Yahoo! Sensible Debates over Important Issues
It's Yahoo! Answers. As such, people can say whatever they want as long as it's in a question/answer format (but I will admit that the kind of posts you're discussing kinda' violate this format)
Just make sure you keep things in perspective.

The problem is that people are misusing and abusing this forum. Instead of using this forum to ask questions and gain insight and knowledge people are using this forum to try to convert and deconvert people to and from religion and to debate and poke fun of one another. I come here to answer questions and aks questions and to try to teach people different things whether or not i am succeeding maybe i am and maybe i am not. But to each his or her own.
