You don't HAVE to (since you didn't do the asking) but you're going to look good if you do - and are prolly more likely to get a second date!

Depends. I would say on the first date, yea maybe offer to pay. Before the second or third date I would maybe hint around to see how she feels about who pays. I've been with my boyfriend for almost 5 years and I think it's CRAZY that he should have to pay all the time. I always try to make it 50/50. I don't mind flipping the bill at all.

If a girl ever demands you pay the bill or you even pay for her and a friend. Drop her. She's NOT worth your hard earned money. Let her mooch off some other guy or her daddy.

I think the man should always offer to pay, and almost always pay, except when the woman would like pay for something say about 10% of the time within reason depending on how much the man is making. I am a feminist, but I think it's the proper thing to do. When we are talking about feminism, we are talking mainly about equality in jobs and activities and respect, not about basic courting chivalry. That said, men are never going to bare children. Men have it way easier than woman, and still make 25% more on average for the same qualifications. Until men can get an operation to surgically implant a womb that will bare all of humanity, we'll reopen this discussion. Men: You cannot have your cake and eat it, too. Until a man proves to me that he is honored by my presence, until he shows that he'd do anything to be around me, not in just a money-related way, but every way, then things will be more relaxed. And anyway, biologically the male gender has a DRIVE to court, stop being cheap. I know we all have to earn and save our money like rabid squirrels in this country, but chill.

Well, If he askes you out, he should pay. If its a mutual date then it would be polite for the female to offer to pay for herself, although the impression left on the female if he accepts her offer without insisting he pay will most likely be lower. I suppose, if the guy really likes the woman and wants to see her again,he really should pay.

I feel that it's proper for a man to pay on the first date and then any date that may follow is open for splitting the check or taking turns paying.

Yes. A man should pay for the first date and he should always offer thereafter. Call me old fashioned but that's how I feel. There is nothing wrong with a woman paying but the man should still offer. I'm a southern girl too ;)

This really depends on the girl. I myself usually like to pay my way on the first date,it makes me feel better and more comfortable. You should come ready to pay just in case the girl feels you should pay because you asked her out.

Whoever initiated the date should offer to pay. The other person can offer to pay for part of the date if they like.

No, unless you two fight forever on who's going to pay or not.
You never know if there is going to be a second date so its a better idea to pay for yourself on a first date.
