uploading movies onto computer from a DVD cam?

Ok well for Christmas I got my first video camera. Ive made a few movies but I really want to upload them from my camera to the computer so i can edit them and such. It is a Hitachi DVD cam. So if any of you know how to do it, send on some info. Thnaks bye bye!

This camera should be equipped with a "Fire-wire" port. If so, you can easily transfer movies to your PC. If not you can use a USB connection and one of the many "freeware" programs available on the net.

You will need to get editing software that can read DVD encoded files. Studio 10, Avid Pro, PRemier, Vegas all should be able to do this. Maybe Avid Free.
