Revenge doesn't need to have anything to do with religion? You can approach an academic assignment from a sociological or psychological standpoint, unless it's a religious assignment, in which case "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" is only going to take you so far.

Never heard that concept. People take revenge on others all the time. Look at Bush the 2nd. He went to war to get Saddam out of power, as he said before he was elected he was going to do, "because he tried to kill my daddy". Of course, his act of revenge has resulted in the deaths of thousands of americans, tens of thousands wounded, and tens of thousands of iraqis dead so he may qualify as the worst revenger in history.

God never takes revenge. Our suffering is a result of our own actions. Our greed, ego and selfishness is spreading sufferring in the world. We have made God cry. Despite that God still loves us.

I can sure tell you about this one.
I wanted to kill my brother and I am not kidding. He did some really bad things in the family and I wanted to do something about it.I got so mad I slammed my fist on the chair I was sitting on and said to God out loud...God I am going to kill him,I meant it I am going to kill him.Now I have had a relationship with Jesus for over 20 years and did not know I had that kind of attitude but I found out I did. Anyway, and this is the truth,God spoke to me and said....you are not going to kill him you are going to forgive him. I said... what.... again I heard him say I was going to forgive him. I said...... why....God said...because this isn't between you and him ,it is between me and him.
Well I just sat down knowing not to argue anymore and started to see what God wanted us as his children to see about forgiveness and us not having the right to revenge.
Vengeance is mine thus sayeth the Lord. I am a changed person in heart now and me and God know this.Oh how he loved me in spite of myself.

Because Jehovah God is our creator and we are obedient to his commandments. Jehovah is the perfect judge and knows all things, we don't. So judgment from God is perfect.
