I always get that feeling from agnostics. Whenever an agnostic is hanging out with Atheists he's all like "Yeah, I really don't think that god exists. It would make more sense that way," but when the tables turn and are around Christians they say "well, you can't totally prove Jesus was the son of god, but I do agree it is possibility, a strong one to say the least." Most of them are also easy to say "well, yeah, I don't believe in the greek gods at all," so in reality they are just "agnostic" about Christianity because they are closeted Christians who now realize that something is wrong with their religion; yet they cling to the hope that one day it won't be so. Seems like they just don't have the balls to make up their mind about things. Atheists, on the other hand, simply say "We have no evidence to believe it, so we won't believe it. If evidence proves us incorrect, we will change our minds."

Correct. Most people who call themselves agnostics are just avoiding the issue of Christianity because they don't want to confront it. Religion is a complex difficult thing, especially if you were raised to be religious.

No, no, no... and did I mention, no.

First of all, you're discussing two theoretical gods... the christian god, and the greek gods. There are a lot of other religions out there who also believe in gods that Agnostics are unsure of.

You're also blanketly saying how all Agnostics act in the presence of Atheists and christians. No. Not to mention that the belief that Jesus was the son of god is a strong possibility is one held by christians, not agnostics.

Also, I highly doubt that you've ever met an Atheist who has said that he or she will change their minds about the existence of god if evidence proves them incorrect, because they know that such evidence will never exist.

You're inventing situations to prove your point, which is incorrect. You can't back up opinion with fallacies and pretend that they are facts. It's illogical and makes no sense.

Wow, the Atheists are calling out the Agnostics!

As a Christian I believe that agnostics are at least honest in saying I don't know, or I'm not sure. Atheists want to lump all religions together as being the same. Despite even the philosophic merits of Christianity, the atheist writer would equate it with Roman Mythology. The agnostic on the other hand would honestly say, no there seems to be a bit more to Jesus than there is to Neptune.

No. An agnostic is a person who admits to not knowing. Since no one "knows," agnostics are the only ones who are completely honest about it.

As for "making up our minds," you need to understand that a person can be an agnostic AND an atheist or a theist at the same time. This is because agnosticism is a state of knowledge - the knowledge that humans do not "know" whether the gods exist - but theism and atheism are states of belief (the belief that gods do or do not exist).

Many agnostics choose to believe in the gods, including myself. Others, the atheists, choose to believe that there are no gods. Get it?

I'm Agnostic, that's the truth. I'd be dead if I didn't have a backbone, so yep, still got one. Closet case? Nope, when everyone else bows their head and folds their hands for those darn prayers they have every time we try to have a meal at work, I roll my eyes and tap my feet and wish I could pray for the droning to end. I do admit that I have thought about not admitting I"m agnostic when Christians seem especially rabid and look like they are going to bite, but I have mace for those occasions.

Not at all. I'm a proud Agnostic. I do believe in a higher power, so in that, I disagree with the Atheists. But I don't believe that Jesus was the son of God, so in that, I disagree with the Christians. I'm firm in what I believe in and have no reason to back down from it. I respect other people's beliefs, just don't look down on me for mine.

I'm agnostic.

I tell the truth no matter what.

I stand up to anyone who denigrates me.

And I vehemently disagree with most Christians and consciously made the decision NOT to be Christian in high school.

The definition of agnostic is the belief that god is unknowable and unprovable. So, most agnostics disagree with Christianity because Christians claim they "know" god.

Personally, I refuse to claim that I have the answer to one of the greatest mysteries of humanity (the existence of god). I find that saying that you know absolutely that god does or does not exist very arrogant.

No, it is possible to be agnostic and still have christian values without accepting the religious aspects of christianity. Maybe agnostics are more open-minded about the possibility of human fallibility and realize that anybody presenting their flavor of belief as the truth, be it christian, greek gods, or even the athiests, all could possibly be wrong.

As an agnostic/atheist I say "I have no evidence to believe it, so I won't believe it. I don't think it'll ever be possible to prove my position conclusively wrong, but neither will I be able to say with 100% certainty that there is no god."

I am agnostic. I freely tell anyone who asks that; I don't believe that any God needs books and any god that comes from a book is a false one. As for my backbone, I have been studying Martial Arts for 20 years. I am itching for an opportunity to use my skills. Want to be my victim.....uhhh I mean sparring partner?

The agnostic belief that it is not possible to know if there is or is not a God, so they will titer back and forth on the subject of belief in God.

I am a follower of Christ, from Christ came the word Christian. Not what man has made, but what God has made, that is what I follow.
