my start bar can only show the quick launch buttons and the language bar. no matter what programs i use, firefox, MSN, or task manager, there's no other buttons indicating that the program is in use.
Basically...it's as though you started the computer with no programs, and stays there.
The problem started last night, and I thought a reboot would make it go away.
Please help.

Go to:
Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Click the bullseye for "Restore My System To An Earlier Date" and then click on next.
Select 2 days ago by clicking on that date in the calendar and then click on apply/next/yes or whatever takes you to the next step.
This will restore your PC to before the problem occurred.

attempt commencing in risk-free mode then use equipment configuration application to disable/enable as mandatory. as quickly as you could start up up laptop do a domicile windows replace for drivers and apps. can not harm to do antivirus/malare test.
