Hep c needs iron to replicate. If you have an iron overload you should stop taking vitamin c supplements.Vitamin c causes your body to absorb more iron.Try eating a vegan diet.Vegans are warned not to drink green tea with their meals because it can stop your body from absorbing iron. The problem with this is that your body needs iron for life. You should discus this with your doctor and not just try it on your own because without enough iron you can easily become anemic.

no. hcv is a double stranded virus that needs the liver as it's host, the bloodstream is it's transporter. hcv changes it's genetic makeup each time the batch leaves the liver, the second batch is genetically mutated from the first and so on....this is how it becomes chronic. the bodies natural interferon needs a boost.
antiviral chemotherapy (interfon of some sort, via injection) and oral antiviral medications such as ribavirin are the ONLY way you can get a sustained viral response. (cure if you remain sustained beyond a year after chemo).

hcv is not just a liver disease-it is found in the brain, the heart, lungs, kidney's....anywhere the virons can go, however, they can only replicate in the liver.

with this being said, do not fall victim to anyone telling you to "fast" or flush or cleanse or even herbs.

the only herb safe and slightly effective is milk thistle. what i meant by slightly effective is it has anti-inflammatory properties which will allow the liver to reduce in swelling enough so, that it is able to work less hard. milk thistle will reduce alt and ast levels for some-for a while. elevated alt and ast levels can cause cellular cancer growth, so if your alt and ast levels are lowered, there is less chance of cancer cell growth.

drink plenty of water (you can have tea or coffee, but limit this as those with liver damage can actually have panic attacks due to caffiene buildup in the system)
avoid as much red meat as possible (other meats in moderation)
try to get your main protien from veggies
stay away from mulitvitamins that contain iron, or food thereof
NO ALCOHOL of ANY KIND-whether consumed by drinking, or rubbing of alcohol on the skin.
avoid otc drugs as well as pain medications -not only can these harm the liver, but, can cause a buildup of medication causing more problems in the long run. (a rule of thumb for us heppers is take half of what is said to if you absolutely have to take something) make sure water is your main drink while taking oct or prescribed drugs.

good luck

If you mean fasting to try and eliminate it, then absolutely no. If anything, you need to keep as healthy as you can to enable your body to resist the virus. Keep in mind, hepatitis C is a viral disease. Viruses do not eat, thus they can't starve. If you have hep C, then being checked by a doctor is essential to see if you need treatment or not. Typically, only 10% of people with the virus need to be treated. Watch your diet, don't drink alcohol or use Tylenol/acetaminophen, and get checked out.
