Several thoughts:
1) Avoid acidic foods like chocolate, tomatoes, citrus, etc. and refined sugars like powdered sugars, frosting, etc. at least for a few days and that should help curve any irritation until it heals.
2)If your teeth rub the cut, try molding dental wax (cheap at any drugstore) over the tooth to soften the edge. Cigarette papers work well too. They're so thin they easily mold to the tooth when they get moistened in your mouth. This is what some musicians do when they have to practice so much their teeth cuts into their lips. Some of the dental waxes come in flavors like mint.
3) Salt water rinses help to heal as does eating yogurt with active live cultures- just watch that they're not too sugary.
4) Also take an over the counter anti-inflammatory to try to reduce the inflammation so that you reduce the chances of biting down on it again or it rubbing any worse.
Hope it feels better!

Rinse your mouth with warm water that has salt dissolved in it. Do this at least 4 times per day until it gets better. There is also something called "Kanka" which is a mouth sore gel that numbs the area. There are other brands to buy too that do the same thing. You can buy them at the pharmacy or supermarket. I rely on it because I wear braces and always have cuts in my mouth.

All these answeres are great EXCEPT if you keep rubbing the spot with your tongue, teeth, food and so on you will keep making it worse. Go to a drug store, WalMart, whatever you have and they have thin clear round patch the size of a dime you put in your mouth and it protects the sore and dissolves away on it's own. Ask the pharmacist and they will know what to grab for ya... good luck!!!

It's good to get cold against the sore. Since ice is really painful, one good trick I've heard is to get yogurt right out of the fridge, take a spoonful, and hold it next to the sore as long as it's cold, and repeat.
Beyond that you're just going to have to tough it out until it gets better. Mouth sores suck.
