It is a verse in Leviticus as said before. Note that this book is in the Torah, or Old Testament, but christians supposedly only treat it as history and rely on the new testament and Jesus' teaching. But of course, when it is handy, many christians will go back and use old obsolete verses (as per Jesus) and take them and apply to modern day- so gays should be killed, the bible says to do it! Since it is not in the New Testament, it should be ignored as it is not part of true christian teachings based on the New Testament. ( Like that will really happen). That hypocricy is another reason for being an atheist!

Thank you Jackie. Yes, new covenant, new game.
Anyone remember the guy who was nailed to a cross for saying that people can have a personal relationship with God, and by the way, let's be nice to one another and try to be our brother's keeper??
Asker... people will take out of the Bible what they want to promote their own sick agendas. (Hitler used it a lot). Jesus said, "let he here who is without sin cast the first stone".
People conveniently forget that one when it does not suit them....
oops forgot to answer your question! lol! It is in Leviticus. You should read the entire book (not the bible, just that particular part) it will amaze and shock you! I think we would all be dead if anyone actually followed the "laws"...

there are many reasons why someone would be put to death under the Jewish Law and most of them are lifestyle type behaviors:
Leviticus 20:10
" 'If a man commits adultery with another man's wife—with the wife of his neighbor—both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.
Leviticus 20:11
" 'If a man sleeps with his father's wife, he has dishonored his father. Both the man and the woman must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Leviticus 20:12
" 'If a man sleeps with his daughter-in-law, both of them must be put to death. What they have done is a perversion; their blood will be on their own heads.
Leviticus 20:13
" 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Leviticus 20:15
" 'If a man has sexual relations with an animal, he must be put to death, and you must kill the animal.
to name a few. these must be read in the context of the ancient culture in which they were written. do any of these seem socialy beneficial to a society or for that matter, sanitary for a primitive culture?
Christians believe that Jesus came to fulfil the Jewish Law and that it no longer applies to his followers. if you read the new testament you see a common theme that deals more with who you are as a person and your lifestyle rather than inconsistant occasional acts of sin that you may commit. as far as Jesus and Christianity is concerned, homosexuality is just as bad a sin as lying or stealing.
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
the issue has more to deal with the lifestyle than the individual behavior. most homosexuals that you see in the media define themselves by their homosexuality and the lifestyle surrounding it. it would be just as if someone was theif or a liar and defined themselves by that aspect of their lives.
it is virtually impossible to understand any verse in the bible by reading just that verse. at the very least you have to read the entire chapter that surrounds it to get a picture of what its talking about. each verse must be read in the context of the whole.

In context, it's a law given to God's chosen people (the Jews) to live by while wandering the desert with the pillar or fire and the Ark. Whether or not it's applicable to non-Jews or anyone today is arguable. It may have only applied while they were walking "with God" and/or the Ark (the pillar of fire and smoke representing God's physical presence).

Before you get all upset about that verse, Remember - the Bible was written during a time in history when bath houses were VERY common! Homosexuality was also VERY, very common! The people who put the bible together did so in order to manipulate & control the general populace.
People during that time worshiped many Gods, and were either Pagen or Jewish. The bible was writen to unite the people & give the Roman emperors more power and tax money.
No book could EVER convince me that Jesus had a problem with homosexuality! He preached love, peace, understanding, and enlightenment. Not hate and bigotry.

Leviticus 20:13 "If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death for they are guilty of a capital offense."
Romans 1:26 "....even the women turned against the natural way and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men instead of having normal sexual relations with women burn with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

There is also a verse in Leviticus that says if you wear clothing made of more than one material, you should be put to death.

try translating the original hebrew the right way. in the original hebrew scriptures you are refering to they used a hebrew word "zakar", which literally translated means "a person worthy of recognition". it was refering to offering sexual favors to the high priests. but people that dont know hebrew obviously translated it to mean what they wanted it to mean. so for all you people that believe in this wrongly translated document. open your eyes and seek the real truth. by the way man or mankind or male person in hebrew is "iysh" not even close to the real hebrew word used.
