Every time I hear of a disaster such as Hurricane Katrina, the Asian tsunami, or a devastating earthquake, I wish that I could be one of the people responding and administering aid. It's an ache I feel in the very depths of my being. Circumstances don't allow me to do this in life ~I am single mom to 3, with a very low income, and 3 painful, crippling diseases. If there truly is an afterlife, I would like to be a guardian angel, one of those responsible for the little miracles of survival that we always hear of after such a disaster, the little stories that touch our hearts and leave us wondering "How did they ever survive that?"

I was rather hoping that I wouldn't have to have a job that I would have to go to every day. That would be taking away some of the freedom which I hope will come when the next life begins.
Instead it would be good to just have hobbies which you can do as and when you feel like it. Then some hobbies would be useful to society, such as gardening etc.
Surely if the next life is Paradise there would be no need for quite a lot of the jobs that have to be done on earth. Cleaning wouldn't be necessary. Food production would be redundant. I am sure that a lot of jobs would not be necessary in the afterlife.
If pushed I would work in either a garden or a library depending on the weather in Paradise. Those two would be included but I would also like to try spending time contacting people in This life to offer proof of ongoing existence.

I'm not keen on 'work' myself, but I guess one man's work is another man's hobby.
So I think I'd like to wander. Just see the beautiful places, enjoy that old hypothetical creation. If I met people, I'd stop and chat and maybe if they were doing something I'd give them a hand for a while. Hey, this is starting to sound like that guy in the Kung Fu TV series! Except more log chopping and less fighting.
Though I am disappointed to hear that 'that' is off the menu! Do you have that on good authority Pangel?

I would like to do all of those enviroment clean up projects that are always advertised. I participated in a few, but some, like the sea turtle egg hunt (where you protect the nests) would be really enjoyable to me. I would also love to just organize stuff for people. I guess I could still persue that career/hobby now. Hmm, I like this question. It got me thinking!
*If you haven't read H.G. Well's short story, Utopians, you should. What you are asking is basically the Utopians way of life. I loved the story.

I want to play the guitar like Eric Johnson (My lack of talent prevents me from doing it in this lifetime.)
Monica just for that comment you are not going to be the Queen of the Spring Carnival. Okay, that was harsh. Monica you can still be Queen of the Spring Carnival.
Hypothetical is great! Not too many people on answers understand its meaning.

this is such a cool thing to imagine about!
i would want to teach an outdoor art class for preschoolers. my favorite thing to do in the summer is set up the easel outside and let the kids experiment with paint and chalk. it's the closest thing to magic i have ever felt. and since it's hypothetical, that means someone can come do the clean up!

I'd go and explore the wilderness...although I imagine the next life would not be on earth. Speculation is all, hehe. But to wander through nature would be pretty cool, I think.

Hi Pangel!
I would love be reborn in the past if it is possible. I would like to be a ronin, hermit, or a sage. Something that would give me the freedom to go anywhere, do anything. I am sick of being tied down by society!
