i was making a left turn and i stopped on a yellow light but i was behind one of those truck things that you can never see anything ahead of you...i saw the yellow and stopped but i thought that i was too far away from where i was supposed to stop..(but i wasn't apparently) .so i kept going and the light turned red- a cop stopped me and ticketed me and i have just my permit, i've had it for 2 months it's my first offense and definetly last (atleast for the time i'm on permit)
i have a 75 dollar ticket- if i pay the ticket because i know i should have stayed stopped but the thing is, if i pay it - it goes on my record...will that mean i don't get my license?
does it make sense to go to court if i know that i shouldn't have gone?...what would happen there? are they going to take it all away...i'm a good student and have no record of doing anything wrong in school or out of school...
i'm pretty freaked out

I can tell your freaked out. Take a deep breath and breathe. You can go to court. I would. I would explain what happened in the way that you seen it. Find out if there is video tape of the incident. (from the stop light) If there is you may be able to show what happened. If nothing else you'll probably get your fine reduced and if your lucky it may go on your record --then when you turn 18 or 21 you may ask the judge to remove it. I think they go away after a few years anyway. It's when you get 3 or more that can really cost you. Your insurance will go up, etc., etc. I don't think it will affect you getting your license. That would be up to the judge--They usually know how easy it is for a new driver (one in training) can react . Just keep your head when talking to him. Everything will turn out alright.

Are the people that answered from Illinois? Go admit guilt. If you know you did the crime admit it. Judges like that. The officer will show up. It is in policy to show. Pluss we general get overtime. Ask to take the class. There is a class you can take it is generaly on saturday mornings. It also costs more that just paying the $75.00. you should have gotten an envelope with your ticket. It will have what you can do on the back. Plead innocent, Plead Guilty, or Plead Guilty and take the class. Taking the class gets the citation off of your record.

Go to court the fine will most likely be reduced as until this incident you had a clear record you will probably lose a couple of points on your license but not to worry you regain them if your driving record stays clean for 1 year after the offense

Things like this happen. Just be more careful in the future. Pay the ticket. If you fight it in court and lose, you will also have to pay court costs, in addition to the $75 ticket. The option is yours.
