They are the same in that in both cultures, school children were expected to do their own homework! LOL
You need ot look up both cultures through Google - you could get something short and sweet and to the point with Wikipedia, and then you figure out the similarities and differences yourself. You will feel better at having done your own work. I am sure your teacher wants you to assimilate knowledge of the two cultures, and give an answer you have thought out for yourself.

Mesopotamia (The Fertile Crescent)
Opportunities- they had fertile land, so people can be sedentary and can be urban. Mesopotamia was accessible so this land can be used to settle.
Stresses- Irregular flood and drought seasons, ease of invasion, lack of stone and timber for building. This land made it good for temporary settlement but not permanent settlement.
Civilization of Mesopotamia: very stressful, constant warfare, too many city-states, constant rise and fall of empires, fatalism, they fear gods and had to much dependence on gods. submissiveness, but were very innovative.
The Summerians invented Cuniform- which is picture writing. They wrote on clay tablets.
Egyptian civilization-
Opportunities: They were isolated by the Sahara and Nubian deserts. This protected them from invasions. The rise and of the Nile was regular so the land was very fertile and gave plenty of commodities. Nile was VERY navigable, they could use the Nile to get to the First Cateract.
Egyptians were very prosperous, they enjoyed the good like. HOWEVER, they were too complacent which led them to destruction later on because they couldn't adapt. They had political unity. They invented Heiroglyphics that they wrote on papyrus.
They did NOT FEAR their GODS, they believed in the Ma'at or the ideal society: Justice, Harmony, Order.
They considered the pharoah to be a relative of the gods. They believed more in the afterlife.
They lasted much longer than Mesopotamia...
Hope that helps, can't remember too much more. Took a class two years ago, got my notes out to help. ;)
