I love my aunt, don't get me wrong, but this friend I have can relate to me a lot more than what my aunt can. Can I tell my aunt I don't want her to do it anymore or do I just stick with it?

It's your wedding, your day, you are the center of the world on this day, however, you don't wanna hurt anyone that loves you... since you have already asked her to be your maid of honor - what would be so wrong with having them both stand in places of honor beside you on your day...??? Is your aunt married? if so she can be the matron, and your friend (if unmarried) would be the maid of honor... both have places of honor, the title is irrelevant, it's having the two women that mean the most stand with you during the most special moment of your life.
Congrats and Good Luck.

I would not un-ask your aunt to be your maid of honor, her feelings would be hurt. But there are several ways you can get around this and have your friend be a maid of honor also. First of all there are no rules that say you must have just one maid of honor. I had two in mine my 18 year old daughter was my maid of honor and my 17 year old daughter was my Jr. maid of honor. If your aunt is much older than you could use this or even if she isn't much older. Also if one of the two is married you could use a maid of honor and a matron of honor. Be sure to let them both know they are both equally as important to you and value what they both can do to help make your day even more special.

I was in the same situation and I decided to have a matron of honor and a maid of honor. Maitrin is married and maid is not.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I think you should just tell your aunt that you want your friend to be maid of honor. It's your wedding after all, and hopefully it's a once in a life time opportunity. Maybe you can still include your aunt in the wedding somehow, if she really wants to be a part of it.

Can you just have two maids of honor? That way no ones feelings will be hurt.

have your aunt be your maid of honor, you can't take it away once you have asked, but you should also explain this to your friend and ask them to be the 2nd maid of honor (the 2nd most important)

Personally I would be extremely offended if someone told me they changed their mind and wanted someone else to be their maid of honor. I recommend sticking with your initial decision and making your friend a bridesmaid.

Well if you already asked your aunt to do it it would be rude to say you chose someone else. But it is your call Good Luck
